Ingredients

  • SYRUP:

  • 1

    c sugar

  • 1/2

    c honey

  • 1

    c water

  • 1

    tsp. lemon juice

  • 1

    cinnamon stick

  • CAKE BATTER:

  • 3/4

    c unsalted butter

  • 1/2

    tsp. grated orange zest

  • 3/4

    c sugar

  • 3

    eggs

  • 1

    c a. p. flour (all purpose)

  • 1 1/2

    tsp. baking powder

  • 1/2

    tsp. cinnamon

  • 1/4

    tsp. salt

  • 1/4

    c milk

  • 1

    c chopped walnuts

Directions

. Cook syrup ingredients together in a sauce pan until thickened to a syrup consistency . Cream butter and sugar together, add in the eggs one at a time along with the zest, next combine all the dry ingredients together and add in a little at a time mix until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated . Stir in the nuts last . Pour into a greased 8" inch square pan (greased) and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes . Cool and cut into diamonds, soak cake with the syrup
