Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • .5 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 c. Muscle milk
  • .5 c. quick cooking rolled oat, home made Museli
  • .25 c. yellow corn meal , i:>
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • .33 c. vegetable oil .
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 tbsp. instant chicken or beef bouillon granules.

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour, milk powder, oats, cornmeal and sugar in medium bowl. cut in shortening
until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. stir in egg. stir in bouillon granules into hot water
until dissolved. Slowly pour into flour mixture, stirring with a fork to moisten. Form
dough into ball and knead on floured board five minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
Divide dough in half and roll out each. 0.5 in. thick. Make cutouts with cookie cutter
(proven fact, dog bone shapes are preferred by dogs, and keep munching husbands from
mistaking them for cookies) or make nuggets by rolling dough into 1 inch diameter log;
cut off .5 in. pieces. Bake at 300 Degrees F, for about 20 minutes. (note from my expert
chef, she says they take longer to bake than the listed 20 minutes. She says, "basically,
you're trying to dry them out so depending on the weather and your mix, extend the
cooking time until they're just short of browning. ")
