  • 2-½

cup warm water (about 90-100 degrees)

  • 2

    tbsp yeast

  • 2

    tbsp sugar

  • 1

    tsp kosher salt

  • 3

    tbsp vegetable or canola oil

1. In large bowl add warm water, Sprinkle yeast and then sugar over water and mix gently. Let is sit for 5-10 minutes till you see yeast get bubbly on top. 2. Stir in salt, oil and flour. 3. With hands, knead in bowl a few minutes till smooth and begins to pull from bowl. 4. Cover bowl with a very warm wet towel and let it 15 minutes. 5. Divide dough into 2 equal parts. 6. Roll each part on lightly floured surface (I used a rolling pin) to about 12-14" long and 8" wide. 7. Tuck in edges and roll up jelly roll style. 8. Move to lightly greased cookie sheet. 9. Using a sharp knife, slash tops of each loaf about 6 times. 10. Heat oven to 375. 11. Let loaves sit on sheet till oven is hot. 12. Beat 1 egg white beaten with 1 tbsp cold water. 13. About 20 minutes into baking, brush each top with egg mixture. 14. Bake another 10 minutes till bread is done. Option: Sprinkle sesame seeds, poppy seeds or other grain on top when you brush egg mixute on.
