Ingredients
- Sauce:
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp. melted shortening (not salad oil)
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 2 tbsp. cocoa
- 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
- 5 tbsp. cocoa
- 2 1/4 cups boiling water
Preparation
Step 1
Sift flour, baking powder, salt, white sugar and 2 tbsp. cocoa together. Stir in milk and shortening. This makes a stiff batter. Add nus and spread in deep baking dish.
Mix together brown sugar, 5 tbsp. cocoa and sprinkle over batter in dish.
Pour 2 1/4 cups boiling water over all (do not stir). Bake at 350 deg. for 40 - 45 minutes.
Bake half recipe 30 - 35 minutes.
