TURKEY

Ingredients

Preparation

Step 1

if frozen take out 2 nights before, wash day before & season night before

1. clean out insides

2. wash w/ water & turn over on breast - let drain & dry

3. put seasonings in jar (make 1 week ahead & let sit in bottle in cubard)

SEASONONG MIX:
2 TBL garlic
2 TBL lawrys seasonign salt
enough wesson oil to liquify mixure
1 tsp pepper
1/4 C sugar

4. rub turkey inside & out w/ mixture
saturate
use all of mixture

5. grate large onion
put inside turkey
rub in & leave all

6. wrap whole turkey tightly in foil

7 put in icebox in pan & put whole thing in plastic bag
(if have no room leave out in cool place - but do not put in plastic bag)

8. stuff turkey just before ready to use
--add 1/4 lb softened butter into dressing

8. melt 1/8 LB butter - rub inside turkey

10. add dressing losely in neck & insides

11. put on rack - breast down

12. melt 1/4 LB butter w/ 1/2C wesson oil

pour abt. 1/2 butter/oil mix. over turkey

14. cover turkey loosely w/ foil

15. baste at least every hour
--during 1st hr - use rest of butter/oil mixture
--when have enough pan drippings baste w/ that

16. turn over after 5 hrs

17. cook @300 5-7 hrs
