Danish Kagemaend/Koner

By

This is a recipe from my friend who is German/Danish. It is used for celebrations, get-togethers, and breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 150 gr butter
  • 3 dl (300 cc) milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 50 grams yeast (2 1/2 tsp dry yeast)

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter and put in large bowl. Add warm milk, salt, and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over this. Add flour and stir with baking spoon (wooden). Hold about 2 tbsp flour back for later. When dough is stirred and smooth, let rise for 20 minutes in a warm place. Take dough out of the bowl, press the air out and separate into 2 pieces. Roll each pice into a snake and separate each into 12 pieces. Roll the 24 pieces into buns and put on baking sheet (greased or with parchment paper on it). If you want them to get into some shape put them close, if not, place them further apart. Let rise again for 20 minutes. Now brush them lightly with a beaten egg or with milk. Bake at 225ºC or 473ºF in middle of the oven for 20 minutes.

***Add 5 chocolate chips or raisins to top. Drizzle powder sugar icing over the top.
