Stuffed Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 head of leafy cabbage
  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 cup rice (pour boiling water over rice and let stand 20 minutes)
  • 1 whole onion chopped fine
  • salt and papper
  • 2 cans tomato sauce with tomato bits
  • 1 can tomato sauce

Preparation

Step 1

In a bowl mix meat, drained rice, onion, salt and papper to taste and mix well. Boil water in big pan and drop head of cabbage in boiling water. Cut off leaves as cabbage boils and take out and place on dish until you get all the leaves you need. Take baking dish and pour 1 can tomato sauce with bits in bottom of dish. Take one leave at a time and cut off core or vein and roll meat mixture in leaf (stuff leaf) then put on top of tomato sauce that is in baking dish. Keep doing this until all leaves and mixture is used. Pour another can of tomato sauce with bits and can of tomato sauce on top and some water. If you have leaves left over, place them on top to keep from burning. Cover with foil and bake at 350-450 degrees 3 hours or more.
