Poppy Seed Batter Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c warm water
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 Tbs. butter - soft
  • 2 Tbs. poppy seeds
  • 2 Tbs. sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3-3 1/2 c flour
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 Tbs cold water
  • poppy seeds

Preparation

Step 1


Mearsure warm water into bowl and sprinkle yeast over, stir to dissolve. Add butter, poppy seeds, sugar, salt. Stir in 2 cups of flour. Beat until well blended, about 1 minute. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough. Cover and let rise in warm place until double about 35 minutes.

Stir down and spread into pan. cover and let rise again in pan about 40 minutes.

Combine egg white and cold water. Brush on top of bread then sprinkle with poppy seeds.

Bake 375' for 45 minutes
