Ingredients

  • Option 1:
  • 1 X 1.5L Bottle of Maria Christina Red Wine (chilled)
  • 4 cups of Ginger Ale (chilled) *Canadian Dry is best
  • Splash of Orange Juice or Lemonade (chilled)
  • 2 shots of Triple Sec
  • 2 Oranges
  • 2 Lemons
  • 2 Limes
  • 1 quart of strawberries
  • Option 2 – Party Size!
  • 1 X 4L Box of Maria Christina Red Wine (chilled)
  • 1 X 2L Bottle of Ginger Ale (chilled)
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice or Lemonade (chilled)
  • 4 shots of Triple Sec
  • 5 Oranges
  • 5 Lemons
  • 5 Limes
  • 3 quarts of strawberries

Preparation

Step 1

Pour wine, OJ/lemonade and Triple Sec into a bowl. Squeeze in the juices from your oranges, lemons and limes (be careful of the seeds). If doing option 1, only juice one of each fruit. If doing option 2, juice three of each. Cut strawberries into bite size pieces and remaining citrus fruits into discs. Add them for garnish (and who am I kidding, for boozy fruit). Lastly, add chilled Ginger Ale to the mix, stir it up and serve over ice. Avoid adding ice to the bowl as it dilutes the flavour. If you find it’s not sweet enough for your taste, add pineapple juice or sugar.

The thing to remember about sangria is that it’s best made in advance and chilled for 24 hours. This really allows the flavours to infuse. If you’re totally on your game and are able to do this, omit the Ginger Ale until you’re ready to serve. If you don’t have time, I’ve done it both ways and although it tastes better after sitting, it still tastes amazing if you make it right before.
