Red Velvet Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1/4 cup Dutch cocoa powder or cocoa rouge
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp red gel food color
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp white vinegar

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Whisk together cake flour, cocoa, and salt.
In a mixer, whisk together sugar and oil until combined. Add eggs, one at a time. Mix in food color and vanilla, blend well.
Add flour mix in 3 batches, alternating with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Stir together baking soda and vinegar in a small bowl, wait for it to foam. Add mix to batter, beat well for a few seconds.
Bake 18-20 minutes.
