Dulce de Leche Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 devils food cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups butter at room temp
  • 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips, melted and cooled
  • 3 cups confectioner's sugar

Preparation

Step 1

preheat oven to 350*
on low speed beat cake mix, eggs, 1 cup water and sour cream until combined
on medium speed beat 2 minutes
divide between 2 9 inch cake pans
bake 35 minutes or until toothpick come out clean
cool in pans on racks 5 minutes
remove from pans to racks
with skewers poke 15 holes into each warm bake layer going halfway into cake
spread 1/4 cup caramel sauce over each layer
cool completely
on medium. speed, beat butter until fluffy
beat in chocolate until just smooth
bear in sugar until fluffy
place cake layer on serving plate
spread with 1 cup frosting
top with remaining cake layer
spread cake top and side with remaining frosting
drizzle cake top with remaining caramel sauce
