Bread - Bisquick Mix

Variations:
6 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
1 cup vegetable shortening
1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt three times into a large bowl.
2. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
3. Store mixture in airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 months.
4. Use whenever your recipe calls for "Bisquick mix".

Homemade Bisquick Mix
8 cups flour (4 Cups)
1 1/4 cup nonfat dry milk (1/2 + 2 Tbsp)
1/4 cup baking powder (2 Tbsp)
1 tablespoon salt (1 1/2 tsp)
2 cups shortening ( 1 Cup)
Combine flour, milk, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Store in tightly closed container in cool place. Use anywhere Bisquick or other biscuit baking mix is called for.

- Makes Approx. 11 Cups (5 1/2 Cups)
- 9 c. flour (4 1/2 Cups)
- 1/3 c. baking powder (2 Tbsp + 2 1/2 tsp)
- 1 1/2 c. dry milk (3/4 Cup)
- 1 tbsp. salt (1 1/2 tsp)
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar (1 tsp)
- 1/4 c. sugar (2 Tbsp)
- 2 c. shortening (1 Cup)
Preparation
Step 1
Mix dry ingredients, then cut in shortening. Makes 13 cups. Store at room temperature. Use instead of store bought Bisquick mix.
