Apple Cake

A family fall favorite.

Ingredients

  • Carmal topping:
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 cups diced tart apples
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

Beat oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla together. Sift together 2 cups flour, salt and baking soda. Gradually add dry ingredients to the liquid ingredients. Stir in diced apples. Combine pecans with the 1 Tbsp flour, then add to batter.
Pour ina greased and floured 9 x 13 cake pan.
Bake @ 350 for 1 hour.
Make carmal topping as the cake comes out of the oven.
Combine the butter,brown sugar and milk in sauce pan. Cook over medium heat. Bring to boil for 3 minutes. Pour over warm cake.
Cool and serve.
Tastes great served warm with ice cream.
