Sour Cream Apple Squares

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 - 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 cups peeled, finely chopped apples

Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine first 3 ingredients in large bowl; blend at low speed until fine crumbs form. Stir in nuts. Press 2 3/4 cups mixture firmly into ungreased 13 x 9 pan. Combine remaining crumb mixture with remaining ingredients except apples and blend well. Stir apples into batter. Spoon evenly over crumb base. Bake for 30 - 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool completely. Cut into squares or bars. Top with whipped cream or powdered sugar, if desired.
