Ingredients
- 1 LB grd bef
- 1/4 LB grd veal
- 1/4 tsp sage
- 1/4 tsp oregano
- 1 TBL salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 onion
- 1/4 LB mushrooms, ground (4 med. sized)
- 2 cloves garlic, ground
- 1 C tomato puree
- 1/2 C tomato paste
- 4 C canned tomatoes
Preparation
Step 1
preheat oven to mod. heat (350)
mix grd beef & grd veal
spread meat in baking pan & cook for 20 min
stir & continue to cook 10 min longer
in saucepan combine sage, oregano, S & P, onion, mushrooms & garlic
heat, stirring on top of stove
spread over meat & continue to cook in oven 15 min. longer
remove meat mix. from oven & transfer to larger saucepan
add canned tomatoes, tomatoe puree & tomato paste
mix well
bring to boil & simmer for 1-1/4 hrs
correct seasoning w/ salt
cook & store in refrig, where it will keep foar at least a week or in freezer
reheat when needed
THIS MEAT SAUCE HAS TO BE THE BEST ...IT SI THE SAUCE USED IN SARDI'S IN NEW YORK
YOU CAN PUT IT ON ANY PASTA
YOU CAN USE IT AS A BASE FOR OTHER SAUCES
MAKE A BATCH OF THIS & KEEP IN FREEZER
