SANDWICH - MONTE CRISTO

Ingredients

  • Dijon mustard
  • 8 slices country bread
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices Ham
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 C. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 4 T. butter
  • Confectioners sugar

Preparation

Step 1

1. Spread mustard on 8 slices o bread. Layer four slices with cheese, ham, then cheese again. Place remaining bread slices on top.

2. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture, turning to coat well.

3. In a large skillet melt butter over medium low heat. When butter is foamy, add the sandwiches and cook, turning once until golden brown on both sides, 6-8 minutes. Serve immediately dusted with confectioners sugar.
