Ingredients
- MEATBALLS
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 c dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 c grated Parmesean or Romano cheese
- 2 T minced fresh parsley
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/8 t pepper
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 T EVOO
- SAUCE
- 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 T EVOO
- 2 cans (28 oz each) crushed tomatoes in purée
- 2-3 c water, divided
- 8 oz can tomato sauce
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 1/2 c minced fresh parsley
- 1/4 c grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
- 1 T dried basil
- 2 t sugar
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/4 t pepper
- Add'l grated Parmesan cheese & minced fresh parsley, optional

Preparation
Step 1
In lg bowl combine first 6 ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture & mix well. Shape into 12 meatballs. In lg skillet brown meatballs in oil on all sides; drain.
In Dutch oven saute garlic in oil for 1 min. Stir in tomatoes, 2 c water, tomato sauce & paste, parsley, cheese, basil & sugar; bring to boil. Reduce heat; carefully add meatballs.
Cover & simmer 3 hrs. adding more water if needed to achieve desired consistency. Season with salt & pepper. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese & parsley if desired.
