Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup butter 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp real vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 package semi-sweet real chocolate chips
- 1/2 package milk chocolate real chocolate chips
Preparation
Step 1
Cream together sugars, butter and shortening in mixer for several minutes until very creamy.
(do NOT melt butter or shortening first, room temp is best)
Add egg and vanilla, mix another minute
Sift together flour, salt and soda, stir into butter/sugar mixture.
Add chips. Mix into dough.
Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or less.
Time first batch to determine rest. Cookies should not be overdone. If they look a hair bit underdone, they will harden upon cooling.
Remove sheet, let stand one minute, then remove cookies to wire rack for cooling. Be careful to let stand for a minute, or they will fall apart. Be careful not to let stand for more than a minute or they will be overdone on bottom. Cookies will crisp up on outside some as they cool. Cookies will hold together better after cooling for a few minutes on the rack.
Tips: Make sure to cook only one sheet at a time. Be sure the oven rack is centered in the oven, not close to bottom or top. Preheat cookie sheet before putting first batch in. Pull out one minute before putting first batch on it. Continue using same cookie sheet, it will already be heated for your next batches. A cold cookie sheet can ruin the first batch.
