Corn and Ham Chowder

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Water
  • 3 cups Cubed peeled potatoes
  • 1 cup Chopped carrots
  • 1/2 cup Chopped onion
  • 2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Pepper
  • 1 Cube of Butter
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 4 cups Milk
  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped fully cooked smoked ham
  • 1 Can of Corn

Preparation

Step 1

In a large saucepan, bring the water, potatoes, carrots, onion, salt and pepper to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 8-10 min. or until veggies are just tender. Remove from heat; DO NOT DRAIN. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Blend in flour. Add milk all at once and cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Stir milk sauce into undrained veggies. Return large pan to heat. Add ham and drained corn; heat through and serve. Serves 12.
