Ingredients
- Combine:
- 2 1/2 2 1/2 3/4 cup flour (optional 3/4 cup whole wheat)
- 1 1/2 1 1/2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 2 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 1 1/2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/3 1/3 1/3 cup cocoa (optional 1/3 cup dark cocoa)
- 1 1 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 3 eggs PA Preferred
- 1/2 1/2 1/2 cup shortening or oil
- 1 1 1 cup milk PA Preferred
- 1 1 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1 350 add 1 cup water, pour into greased & floured pans. Bake 350
- 30–35 for 30–35 minutes.
- CAN CAN USE EITHER FROSTING

- 1/3 1/3 1/3 cup soft butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 1 1/2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 3 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 2 2 About 2 tablespoons milk PA Preferred
Preparation
Step 1
Cake
Mix 2 minutes, add 1 cup water, pour into greased & floured pans. Bake 350
degrees for 30–35 minutes.
Vanilla Butter Frosting
Blend butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla and milk; beat until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency.
