Ingredients

  • Combine:
  • 2 1/2 2 1/2 3/4 cup flour (optional 3/4 cup whole wheat)
  • 1 1/2 1 1/2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 2 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 1 1/2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/3 1/3 1/3 cup cocoa (optional 1/3 cup dark cocoa)
  • 1 1 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 3 eggs PA Preferred
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 cup shortening or oil
  • 1 1 1 cup milk PA Preferred
  • 1 1 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1 350 add 1 cup water, pour into greased & floured pans. Bake 350
  • 30–35 for 30–35 minutes.

  • 1/3 1/3 1/3 cup soft butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 1 1/2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 3 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 2 About 2 tablespoons milk PA Preferred

Preparation

Step 1

Cake
Mix 2 minutes, add 1 cup water, pour into greased & floured pans. Bake 350
degrees for 30–35 minutes.

Vanilla Butter Frosting
Blend butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla and milk; beat until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency.
