Ingredients

  • Melted Herb Butter:
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 Tbs. sesame seeds
  • 1/2 Tbs. ground thyme
  • 3/4 Tbs. ground tarragon
  • 1/2 Tbs. poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 8 chicken thighs
  • 2 egg whites, lightly beaten
  • 4 Tbs. butter
  • 1 round loaf artisan bread
  • 4 Tbs. butter
  • 3 bs. sesame seeds
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dried tarragon
  • 1 Tbs. ground thyme
  • 1 Tbs. poppy seeds

Preparation

Step 1

In small bowl, combine flour, sesame seeds, thyme, tarragon, poppy seeds, and 2 tsp. salt. Dip chicken thighs in beaten egg, and coat each piece in flour mix. Melt butter in skillet. Brown chicken thoroughly, about 7 minutes per side. Place in 3-quart casserole, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Melt ingredients for herb butter.

Cut off top of bread. Scrape out inside, leaving about 3/4 inch inside. Brush butter herb mix inside loaf and on inside of top. Place on cookie sheet.

Arrange chicken in loaf. Return to oven and bake uncovered for an additional 20 minutes. Remove from oven, replace top and wrap in several layers of foil, surround by several layers of newspaper. Loaf will stay very warm for several hours.
