Ingredients
- 1 18-oz. can tomato paste
- 8 c. water
- 4-6 Tbs. sugar
- 1/2-1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbs. dried sweet basil
- 1/2 c. finely chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 lbs. Italian sausage
- 1 Tbs. sausage drippings
Preparation
Step 1
Mix tomato paste with water Add rest of ingredients, heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer for at least 1 hours. Stir frequently. Add water if sauce becomes to thick.
Sausage:
Place in baking dish. Cover at bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool. Slice into 1/4-inch slices. Add sausage and 1 Tbs. drippings to basic sauce. Simmer 20 minutes.
