Classic Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 ounce)pkg Macaroni
  • 8 Tbsp butter
  • 8 Tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cup cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • pepper to taste
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400
Cook and drain macaroni
In large saucepan melt butter ,add flour mixed with salt and pepper, using a whisk to stir until blended
Pour milk and cream in gradually stirring constantly
Bring to a boil for 2 minutes
Reduce heat and cook stirring constantly for 10 minutes
Add shredded cheese a little at a time. Simmer till all cheese is melted.
Turn off heat
Add macaroni and toss to coat
Transfer to a buttered baking dish and top with breadcrumbs
Bake 20 minutes till golden brown
