Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 16-oz cans diced tomatoes
- 2 6-oz cans tomato paste
- 1 8-oz can tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 1-pound packages spaghetti (we prefer Dreamfield's)
Preparation
Step 1
1. Put the ground beef, onion and garlic in a medium saucepan and cook together over medium-high heat until the beef is browned & the onion are softened, about 10 minutes.
2. Add the tomatoes & their juices, the tomato paste, 1 cup water, and the oregano, salt and pepper. Simmer uncovered, stirring occassionally, for 1 hour.
3. While the sauce simmers, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes, or according to package directions.
4. Drain well and divide among plates. Spoon the sauce over the spaghetti and serve.
