Macaroon Kisses

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 2 teaspoons orange juice
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (14 ounce) package flaked coconut (need 3 cups or about 8 ounces)
  • 1 (9 ounce) package Hershey’s kisses, your favorite, unwrapped

Preparation

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, cream cheese and sugar together until fluffy. Stir in egg yolk, almond extract and orange juice. Stir until well blended.
In a separate bowl, stir together dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt). Add dry ingredients to moist ingredients and stir until all is incorporated.
Stir in 3 cups coconut. Cover bowl and chill for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Shape dough into one inch balls. Roll balls in remaining coconut and place about 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately insert one unwrapped kiss into each macaroon. Cool for 2 minutes before removing from baking sheet.
