Turtle Pecan Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
  • 20 vanilla caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 tbsp. milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Stir together flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles very coarse meal. Press mixture into an ungreased 13x9 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes; remove from oven.
Combine condensed milk and vanilla. Pour evenly over baked crust; sprinkle with pecans and coconut. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, until filling is set. Set pan on a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes. Combine caramels and milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook and stir until caramels melt; drizzle over top. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Cool completely on a wire rack; cut into small bars.
