Shortcake (shortbread) Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • vegetable shortening
  • beef fat shortening
  • 2 cups (1 stick) butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 325 degree F.

In a medium bowl, beat eggs. Add shortening and mix thoroughly. Add flour, sugar, salt, cornstarch and milk and mix until all the ingredients are incorporated.

Shape dough into a round ball. Roll out on a lightly floured surface. Using a cookie cutter, cut out rounds for the cookies.

Bake cookies for 15-20 minutes until lightly brown all over.
