Ingredients

  • 16 oz. box penne pasta
  • 3/4 lb. shredded sharp cheddar
  • 1/2 lb. shredded gruyere cheese
  • 1/2 c. shredded asiago or parmesan
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven 350 degrees. Coat 2qt. dish with pam. Boil penne for 6 minutes. In large bowl, toss cheddar, gruyere, asiago. Set aside. Melt butter in sauce pan. Whisk in flour until smooth. Whisk in milk. Stir in onion powder and salt. Bring to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Whisk in 2 1/2 cup of cheeses. In pasta pot, stir together penne and cheese sauce. Pour 1/2 into baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup of cheeses. Spoon remaining penne into dish. Top with remaining cheeses. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
