Apple Cake Receipe

  • 225 g flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 150 g margarine, softened
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 ,1 kg apples, peeled, seeded and sliced
  • 1 Tbs lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

2Preheat oven to 175 C (350 F).


Grease 9-inch loaf pan; line with parchment paper.


Beat margarine, sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs, one by one, and beat well. Fold in flour mixed with baking powder.


Put 1/2 of batter into pan. Smooth the surface.


Dip apple slices in mixture of lemon juice and cinnamon, and arrange them on the top of cake batter. Cover with the rest of the batter. Smooth the surface again and sprinkle with powdered sugar.


Bake for 60-90 minutes, or until apples are soft. Cover with aluminum foil to prevent burning.


Cool in pan on wire rack for 20 minutes, then turn out onto rack and cool completely. Serve with egg custard sauce or whipped cream.
