Jan's Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1/3 Cups Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tbsp. Baking powder
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 2 cups Buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cups golden raisins

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees
In one bowl mix all dry ingredients
Whisk together slightly beaten egg and buttermilk and pour into dry ingredients. Whisk until moistened. Stir in butter.

Pour into 1 greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.

Bake 65 to 70 minutes or until tester comes out clean.

Cool completely on wire rack. Wrap in foil and leave at room temperature for at least 3 hours or overnight.

Per two 1/3 inch slices 192 calories.
