  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tables butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 quarts chicken broth
  • 3 cups cooked, shredded chicken

Step 1

In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Cut the butter into dry ingredients with a fork or pastry blender. Stir in the milk, mixing with a fork until the dough forms a ball.

Heavily flour a work surface.roll the dough out thin with heavily floured rolling pin. Dip knife or pizza cutter in flour and cut dumplings into small squares. Use a floured spatula to put them on a floured plate.

To cook, bring broth to a boil. Drop the dumplings in on at a time, stirring as you add. The extra flour will help thicken the broth. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until they aren't doughy tasting. Add the cooked chicken to the pot and heat through.
