Molasses Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• 3/4 cup shortening
• 1 cup sugar
• 1/4 cup light molasses
• 1 egg
• 2 cups sifted flour
• 2 tsp. baking soda
• 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. ground cloves, ground ginger and salt
• Icing( if desired)
• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 3 T. milk

Preparation

Step 1

cream together shortening and sugar
add molasses and egg
sift in dry ingredients
refrigerate 30 minutes covered

roll into balls and then in sugar
bake 375 for 8-10 minutes

wait to cool before icing
