Orange Candy Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. orange slices
  • 1 8 oz pkg dates
  • 1 8 oz. pkg coconut
  • 2 c. walnuts, chopped
  • 1 c. oleo
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 t. soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. orange juice
  • 2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 t. vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Cut up first 4 ingredients and mix with 1/2 c. flour

Cream oleo and sugar well. Add eggs, vanilla, 3 c. flour, soda and buttermilk. Mix all together. Bake in 2 loaf pans at 300* for 1 1/2 hours.

While cake is still warm, mix remaining ingredients. Poke holes in cake and pour mixture over the cake. Let cool completely in pan.
