Ingredients

  • For Ginger Simple Syrup:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large piece ginger, cut into thin rounds
  • For Cocktail:
  • 2 ounces Orangerie
  • 1/2 ounce Amontillado Sherry
  • 1/2 ounce ginger simple syrup (see above)
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • ice
  • one or two large ice cubes
  • orange slice, for garnish

Preparation

Step 1

To Make Ginger Simple Syrup:
In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Add ginger and return to a simmer. Remove from heat and let steep 30 minutes. Strain through a fine sieve, let cool and refrigerate.

To Make Cocktail:
Stir Orangerie, Amontillado Sherry, ginger simple syrup and Angostura bitters in a shaker full of ice. Strain into a tumbler over large ice cubes. Garnish with an orange slice.
