    cup firmly packed light brown sugar

    Tbs all-purpose flour

    tsp cinnamon

    scant Tbs soft butter or margarine

  • 1/2

    cup chopped nuts

  • Cake:

  • 2

    cups sifted all-purpose flour

  • 2-1/4

    tsps double-acting baking powder

  • 3/4

    sugar

  • 3/4

    tsp salt

  • 2

    eggs, well beaten

  • 1/2

    cup milk

  • 1/2

    cup salad oil

Directions

Topping: Combine brown sugar, flour and cinnamon in a small mixing bowl. With pastry blender, blend butter into mixture thoroughly. Add nuts. Set aside. Cake: Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into mixing bowl. combine beaten eggs, milk and oil. Stir liquid ingredients into dry ingredients utnil barely blended. Turn batter into greased 9 inch square cake pan. Spoon crumb topping over batter. bake at 400 oven for 25-30 minutes.
