Ingredients
- 1 lb chopped beef
- 1/4 c uncooked rice
- 1 egg
- 1 grated onion
- 1 carrot grated
- 10-12 cabbage leaves
- 1/4 c lemon juice
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 1 c tomato sauce
- water to cover

Step 1
Combined chopped meat, rice, egg, onion, carrot. Salt to taste.
Blanch cabbage leaves in boiling water 2-3 min, drain.
Place a ball of meat mixture in the center of each leaf, roll and tuck ends in securely and place in a heavy frying pan.
In a bowl, mix lemon juice, sugar, tomato sauce and water. Pour over cabbage, adding water to cover as necessary. Cook 30-40 min at 350 degrees f--tips will brown, turn once to brown tips as desired.
