Ingredients

  • for the French toast:
  • 1 loaf crusty French bread
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 tbsp vanilla
  • For topping:
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinn
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • pinch nutmeg
  • 1 stick butter, cut into pieces

Preparation

Step 1

Grease 9x13 pan w/butter
tear bread into chunks and spread on bottom
in bowl, mix eggs, milk, cream, sugar and vanilla
pour over bread
cover tightly and store in frige for several hrs or overnite
in separate bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, cinn and salt and nutmeg
add butter pieces and cut them into dry ingredients until resembles fine pebbles
store in Ziploc in fridge

preheat oven 350*
remove casserole and sprinkle crumb mix over top
bake 45 min for softer texture or 1 hr for firmer texture

top with butter and drizzle with maple syrup
