Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 7 or 8 cups flour (yes, you must go by the "feel")
- 1/2 lb. butter or Crisco
- 3 egg yolks
- 1/2 of a moist yeast cube or 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 pint milk or 12 oz. can evaporated milk and water to make 2 cups
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
Step 1
Mix together flour, salt, egg yolks, sugar, sour cream and shortening (if you are using butter - melt it). Dissolve yeast in warm milk (80 - 110 degrees). Add flour mixture and knead well. Set in refrigerator overnight or at least 7 hours chilled. Roll and fill. Let rise at least 20 minutes. Do not grease pans. Bake 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
