Ingredients

  • 1 1/2

    C. Flour

  • 1/2

    C. Dark Brown Sugar (packed)

  • 1/2

    C. or 1 stick of Butter

  • 1/4

    t. Salt

  • 1

    C. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (6 oz.)

  • 2

    Eggs

  • 1

    C. Dark Brown Sugar (packed)

  • 1

    t. Vanilla

  • 2

    T. Flour

  • 1/2

    t. Baking Powder

  • 1/4

    t. Salt

  • 1 1/2

    C. Flaked Coconut

Directions

1. In a large bowl combine the first 4 ingredients with a pastry cutter or fork until all is crumbly. Pour into baking dish and press down. Bake 10 minutes and remove from oven. 2. Sprinkle Chocolate Chips over the crust and return to the oven for about 1 minute, just enough to soften the chips. Remove from the oven, to spread the chocolate evenly. 3. In a medium bowl, beat Eggs; then add the Sugar and Vanilla and beat again. 4. In another bowl, combine Flour, Baking Powder and Salt. When mixed together; blend into Sugar mixture. Stir in Coconut. Spread evenly over Chocolate layer and bake 15 to 20 minutes. 5. Cool in pan and cut into 3 x 1 inch bars. Makes 3 dozen.
