old-fashioned peach cobbler recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 lbs fresh sliced peaches, peeled and pitted
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Preparation

Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees.
Pour the melted butter into a 9" x 13" baking dish. Set aside.
Sift the flour, ¾ cup granulated sugar, baking powder and salt into a large mixing bowl. Set aside. Whisk the milk and egg together in a separate bowl and stir into the dry ingredients just until combined. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish and set aside.
Using the same mixing bowl that you mixed the batter in, combine the peaches, ¾ cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, corn starch and cinnamon and mix until the peaches are completely coated and the cornstarch has been dissolved. Spoon the peaches and any liquid evenly over the batter, but do NOT stir them together.
Bake 40–50 minutes until the top is golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
