FRIJOLES GRINGO STYLE

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of pinto beans
  • cumin to taste
  • granulated garlic powder to taste
  • onion powder to taste
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter

Preparation

Step 1

. sort out any pebbles and bad or broken beans, and rinse in water to remove any dirt

. place in 6 qt. stockpot cover with water, add seasonings to the water and bring to a boil for 20 minutes, then reduce heat and simmer until beans are soft in the center, add in butter, taste and adjust seasonings , salt should be added at the end of the cook time as it will cause beans to be tough if added in to soon.

. continue to reduce liquid until beans are saucy, turn off the heat and either mash or blend the beans with an immersion blender, beans should be a little lumpy in my opinion
