Creamed Pearl Onions and Peas

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. pearl onions
  • 1 3/4 lb. frozen or fresh peas
  • 1 c. low fat milk
  • 1 T. cornstarch
  • 1 T. butter
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1/4 t. ground pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Prepare vegetables; shell and wash peas if using fresh, peel onions

Combine vegetables in a large saucepan and just cover with water. Boil until tender.(You may microwave frozen peas according to pkg. directions.)
Drain peas.
Add milk, cornstarch, butter, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. When thickened, add peas and onions to mixture, toss until well coated. Serve immediately.
