Chocolate Nests


At Easter time, you can fill the nests with Jelly Beans of all colors.

At Christmas time, you can fill them with red and Green M&M's, etc.

  • 1/2 C. Butter plus 2 T. (softened)
  • 1 C. Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 C. Milk with 1 t. White Vinegar, OR 1/3 C. Buttermilk
  • 1 t. Vanilla
  • 1 3/4 C. Flour
  • 1/3 C. Cocoa (slightly rounded)
  • 1/2 t. Soda
  • 1/2 t. Salt
  • 1 C. Coconut Flakes
  • 1/2 C. Nuts (Optional)



Step 1

With an electric mixer blend Butter and Sugar in Bowl until creamy. Add Egg, Milk and Vanilla, until blended. Stir in the next 4 ingredients. When all is Mixed thoroughly fold in the Coconut and Nuts. Place in refrigerator for one hour to chill.

Just before time is up, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Drop dough by rounded teaspoon 2 inches apart onto ungreased Cookie sheet. Make a Thumb print in the center of each Cookie to resemble a nest.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet and place on Wax paper to cool.
Makes 4 1/2 Dozen Cookies
