- 1 cup frozen strawberries

Directions
For the topping, place the strawberries, water, sugar, and salt in a small or medium saucepan. Place over high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and continue to cook at a low boil, stirring every few minutes, until the berries break down and the mixture is nice and syrupy, 15 to 20 minutes. To speed things up a bit, use the back of a spoon to smoosh the berries against the side of the saucepan as you stir.
While the berries are simmering, whisk together the eggs, milk, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Heat half the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Dip the bread in the egg mixture, one slice at a time, and coat evenly.
Place the bread in the skillet and cook until the bottoms turn golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. Remove to a plate, cover, and set aside. Repeat with the remaining oil and bread slices. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with the strawberry topping.
