Hot Spiced Fruit Salad

Uses mostly canned fruit, baked in a syrup seasoned with butter and spices. Serve with ham, turkey, or pork roast

Ingredients

  • 1 Can each (1lb): Peach halves, pineapple chunks, pitted light sweet cherries (drained and save syrup)
  • 1 Can each (1lb): Pear halves and apricot halves, drained… reserve syrup
  • 2 tart apples, cored and diced and mixed with 3T lemon juice
  • 1/2 t ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t ground cloves
  • 1/3 C packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 C butter
  • 3 bananas
  • 2 C seedless grapes
  • Sour cream or whipped cream

Preparation

Step 1

Drain and combine syrup, reserving 1 1/2C of combined mixture
Turn all drained fruits into 2 1/2qt baking dish. Stir reserved syrup, spices and brown sugar together and pour over fruit. Dot fruit with butter.
Cover and bake @ 350" for 20 min.
Peel banana and slice. Lightly stir in grapes and banana, cover and bake 5 more min.
Serve hot w/ sour cream or whipped cream
