Ingredients

  • 1 lb. of unsalted butter cut into cubes, softened
  • 3 c all purpose flour (a.p.)
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 c nonfat
  • simple syrup: 1 cup sugar, 1c water, 2T light corn syrup

Preparation

Step 1

. combine the flavorings with the eggs in a 4c measuring cup

. beat softened butter until creamy, add sugar into the butter and cream together, do not exceed 3 minutes creaming time

. scrape down sides of mixing bowl and add one egg at a time on low speed, continue to mix until all eggs are well blended in

. mix together all the rest of the dry ingredients and add to the wet ones one cup at a time scraping down the sides as you go, add the nonfat milk and pour batter in greased bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees until done

. make a simple syrup by cooking sugar, corn syrup, and water until syrup like in consistency, add in vanilla or almond extract off the heat

. check cake for doneness by inserting a wooden skewer and removing it, it should be clean

. Allow cake to cool in pan for a few minutes on a rack, with a wooden skewer poke hole around the cake and pour simple syrup over the surface of the cake use all of the syrup, let cake cool completely invert out of baking pan, ready to serve
