Blitz Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rinsed, drained canned no-salt-added black beans
  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • 6 mini pita bread rounds
  • 1/3 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup salsa
  • 1/3 cup shredded romaine lettuce

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a large bowl mash the beans with a fork. Crumble the beef into the bowl and sprinkle with chili powder, pepper, and salt. Mix well. Shape into 6 2 1/2-inch patties.

2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties. Cook for 2 minutes per side or until done.

3. Serve patties in pita bread rounds topped with cheese, salsa, and lettuce.
