Brooke would like to share her traditional family holiday recipe with you. It's a sure thing for every special occasion. David prepares this every year for Brooke, friends and family (we ModernMoms love a man in the kitchen!).
Please note: this is hardly fat free, but well worth the splurge. Healthier everyday recipes are coming in the New Year but you are sure to impress family and friends with this simple delicious holiday favorite.
Ingredients
- 15 Large Russet Potatoes- washed, peeled, thinly sliced
- 3/4 stick butter- cut into pieces
- 4 garlic cloves- minced
- 6 packages swiss cheese- shredded
- 1/2 gallon whole milk
- salt and pepper- to taste
- olive oil

Preparation
Step 1
In large glass rectangular baking dish, grease bottom of pan with olive oil. Layer the bottom of the dish with potatoes (single generous layer).
Shake salt and pepper over potatoes.
Cut butter into small pads and evenly distribute 1/3 of amount over potatoes.
Sprinkle minced garlic over this layer of potatoes.
Cover all the potatoes with the shredded cheese.
Repeat 3 times.
Bake at 350 for 2 ½ hours until top is browned and liquid is evaporated.
