Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • Crust;
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • 2 pkg of taco mix
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 cup green pepper, diced

Preparation

Step 1

Crust:
Mix together, roll out dough until it's pretty thin. Cut out circles of dough. Small (3 inch diameter) ones for appetizers. Larger (6 inch diameter) ones for entrees.

Empanadas:
Prepare filling according to the package directions, adding onions and peppers when browning the meat.

Fill shells, being careful not to over fill. Fold shell over shell, use a fork to seal shut. Fry in oil until brown. Drain on a paper towel lined plate.
