Hot Buttered Pretzels

Ingredients

  • 5 cups unbleached flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 4 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 3/4 - 2 cups warm water (110°)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 tbs baking soda
  • 6 tbl butter
  • salt

Preparation

Step 1

1 Place flour, salt, sugar and yeast into a food processro and mix briefly.
2 Add water and mix until dough comes ogether and pulls away from bowl.
3 Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl; cover and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
4 Preheover to 500°.
5 Transfer dough to lightly greased surface. Divide and shape. Allow pieces to rest 5 minutes, uncovered.
6 Topping: Mix water & baking soda in a shallow dish, being sure thoroughly dissolved. Dip each pretzel into water & places on the cookie sheet. Let rise 10 minutes uncovered.
7 Bake 8-9 minutes until golden. Immediately brush with butter and sprinkle with salt (or cheese or garlic).
